The largest titanium suppliers in the world





This is going to be a short list of worldwide titanium suppliers, but not an extensive statistical accurate data-sheet. If you want detailed information based on average sales volume or production capacity, I’m afraid you’re going to be somewhat disappointed. I’m just going to let you know about the greatest names in the field, based on my experience and their performances.

TIMET TIMET is a north-American based corporation, located in Dallas. It is the world's largest high quality titanium supplier. It is a fully-integrated titanium manufacturer and distributor and its activities span every phase of titanium research, manufacturing and sales, apart from mining the actual mineral ore. They have facilities to convert rutile ore into sponge; melt and refine ingot and slab; manufacture mill products; and a global distribution network.

RTI International Metals is another international titanium supplier. It is incorporated in Pittsburgh, PA, but operates plants in more than 20 locations worldwide. RTI manufactures and distributes titanium and specialty metal mill products, extruded shapes, formed parts, and engineered systems for aerospace, industrial, defense, energy, chemical, and consumer applications for customers around the world.

Allegheny Technologies Incorporated , also known as ATI, is one of the largest and most diversified specialty metals producers in the world, including titanium. Their major markets are aerospace and defense, chemical process industry, oil and gas, electrical energy, medical, automotive, food equipment and appliance, machine and cutting tools, and construction and mining.Besides titanium and titanium alloys they also deal with nickel-based alloys and super alloys, stainless and specialty steels, zirconium, hafnium, and niobium, tungsten materials, grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES), and forgings and castings.

Toho Titanium Co., Limited is a Japan based company, with its headquarters in Chigasaki City. In the titanium business segment, the Group possesses various facilities for manufacturing titanium ingots as well as titanium sponge. The Group boasts an extensive lineup of titanium ingot and titanium sponge products, and they also manufacture high-purity titanium and fabricated titanium products, among others. Moreover, they operate in a broad range of titanium-related business segments, including the electronic materials and catalyst business segments, utilizing the materials and technologies developed in the titanium business segment.

Sumitomo Corporation is also a Japan based company that has a titanium supplier department which has a sizeable share of the worldwide market of titanium metal products. Apart from titanium sponge and ingots, they also offer some more exotic titanium compounds such as high-purity titanium, ferro-titanium, titanium powder and titanium hydride.

VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation (Verkhnaya Salda Metallurgical Production Association) is a Russian operator, located in Yekaterinburg that competes with TIMET for the designation of “world’s largest titanium supplier”. It has its own mining facilities in the well-known abundant Russian titanium mining fields. It was created back in 1933, when Plant No. 45 was put into operation near Moscow to become the leading supplier of aluminum and aluminum alloy mill products for the developing aircraft-building industry in the former Soviet Union.

DuPont Titanium Technologies is the world leader in titanium dioxide production, and it is also one of the pioneers in introducing and promoting this material in the market.

Cristal Global is the second world largest titanium dioxide producer, directs the operation of eight manufacturing plants on five continents, with locations in Ashtabula, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland; Salvador, Bahia; Stallingborough, UK; Thann, France; Yanbu, Saudi Arabia; Bunbury, Australia; and a mine site in Paraiba, Brazil.

Tronox Incorporated is the world’s third-largest producer and marketer of titanium dioxide pigment, holds a 12% market share and serves customers in 100 countries.

KRONOS is a global leader in the manufacturing and sale of titanium dioxide with six manufacturing sites in North America and Europe and sales offices throughout the world.
